ABOUT OUR TEAM
The Sonoma State University Sapphires Dance Team is an audition-based sports team through the CSLIS Office (Center for Student Leadership Involvement and Service) on campus. The team performs at men's and women's basketball games, halftime at soccer games, baseball games, pep rallies, parades, community events, and produces a Spring Showcase every Spring. Members of the dance team are visible representatives for the entire athletic department and sports club division on campus.
In addition to campus involvement, the Sapphires compete in jazz, pom and hip hop divisions at national collegiate competitions.
Team members are required to be full-time SSU students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The full season runs from August through early May, with auditions usually late April. Practice is held three to four days per week with additional practices prior to competition season. Added conditioning and workout hours are also required.
